Free Websites For Charities

Web Widgets Ltd will provide free websites for wholey charitable purposes (sorry this excludes clubs, churches, child care, kindergartens, kohanga reo and sports clubs. If your aims are wholely charitable. eg special needs children, expensive medical treatment, poverty reflief etc, then we can provide you with the following for free.

• Free website hosting with free content management, worth $40 per month
• Free training at our free training seminars
• Free credit card donation form
• Free mailing list facility
• Possibly a free website makeover.*

The equivalent hosting plan level offerered to all charities will be the business plan. If your charity requires a higher level of service, then we can discuss options at that time. We cannot host externally developed or PHP or ASP websites for free, as these services incur costs for us. You must use our CMS system (or FTP only service) only to manage your website.

For credit card donations, we can support most payment gateways in NZ or Paypal. You will need to talk to those payment gateways directly to see if they will provide discounted or free services for charities. If any do, please let us know so we can list them here.

The mailing list service allows people to subscribe to your newsletter and for you to send newsletters to them.

Please signup for our free trial today, and if you are happy with our service, then please ask for your charitable website to be reviewed and go live for free (this is not automatic).

What part is not free

• Domain names are not free, we have to pay that money to someone else.
• Web design and graphics design services are not free.
• Our time is not free. We will provide normal email support for free, and you can attend our free training courses, but will not do anything for you that you can do yourself.
• We don't do one on one meetings on charity websites. Understand that this is a popular offer we provide. You will need to make your mind up to use our service alone. If you need confirmation that you are within our definition of a charity, then please email us for that confirmation.
• Credit card processing transactions may be charged to you by your bank or payment gateway (not us)

Alternative Offer - Cash Donation

If you already have funding or grants in place for your website, and want access to additional funding, please contact us well before the end of each financial year and ask for a donation to your registered charity. 

Terms of the Offer

• The definition of a charitable organisation is at our discretion
• Your website must carry a message on the home page acknowledging our sponsorship.
• You must demonstrate a proof of the legitimacy of your claim. We need to differentiate between people attempting a fraud and people truly in need.
• Sorry domain names are now excluded from the free offer
• Sorry website transfers and design services are excluded from the offer, but will be discounted accordingly depending on the complexity of the job required.
• Mailing list service must be within "fair usage". If we receive complaints, your free status or account may be suspended.

Definition of a Charitable Organisation

• Special needs childrens charities
• Poverty relief (of others)
• Raising funds for an individual suffering from cancer or requiring expensive surgical procedures
• Grassroots community projects with no revenue source
• Foriegn aid organisations (water, food, education, medical)
• Typical well known charities
• A project by a school or church for a specific/definable charitable purpose (not to promote a faith nor patronage)

• Sports clubs/teams
• Schools
• Churches promoting their faith or patronage
• Child care, kindergartens and kohanga reo 
• Other clubs and societies
